Holcim Lanka donated 39 sets of drawing tool kits, on 8th May 2014, to the first batch of engineering students enrolled at the Jaffna University as a part of its drive to support training and education. In order to successfully complete their education the students require box of drawing tools comprising an instrument box, scale, set square, drawing clips and erasing shield and it is this set of instruments that Holcim Lanka has donated to the University. Thushara Priyadarshana, Manager Concrete Innovation and Application of Holcim Lanka said, “This is the first Civil Engineering batch of the University of Jaffna and we want the children of North and East to stay close to home and be able to study in their own territory. By helping them with their requirements we could enable the Jaffna University to have a smooth running operation, thereby helping the students of the University to complete their studies. These students are the next generation who will help build this country and we are proud to have played a part in empowering them to achieve their dreams.”
