Base stone was laid for Ariviyal Nagar Train Station on 28th July 2014 by the Member of Parliament Mr. M. Chandrakumar, Government Agent Mrs. Rubawathi Ketheeswaran, Chief Engineer Eng. Premkumar from Sri Lanka Railways, Deans of the Faculties of Engineering & Agriculture, Deputy Registrar Kilinochchi, Divisional Secretary, Deputy Director of Irrigation, Chief Engineer from the RDD, Design Engineer from CECB and Managers from the industries of MAS Intimates Vidiyal, MAS Active Vaanavil and Cargills Kist Food Processing Center. Sri Lanka Railways General Manager Eng. B.A.P Ariyaratne also visited to the location in the morning and see through the development in the Ariviyal Nagar including university and industrial sectors. Train transport system is the best selected service to the University and Industry employees to travel from Jaffna and Vavuniya to Ariviyal Nagar. If this can also be developed further to transport industrial products to Colombo, then the most benefits will be there for industries. This is another developing step to the Ariviyal Nagar and surroundings with the initiation of the University of Jaffna together with Sri Lanka Railways, Kachcheri, Political and Professional members.
