Senthan Mathavan is lecturing the engineering undergraduates during his visiting appointment at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna from 7th October for a period of a month.
S.Mathavan received the BScEng degree specialized in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, in 2005. He topped the batch obtaining GPA 4.0 out of 4.0. From 2005 to 2006, he was an Assistant Lecturer attached to the Mechanical Engineering Department, University of Peradeniya. He obtained the PhD degree in Mechatronics from Loughborough University in the UK, in 2009. He held a Rolls-Royce sponsored Post-Doctoral Research position at Loughborough University from 2010 to 2011. Since 2011, he is working as a Mechatronics Engineer at ASML, which is one of the leading industries in the Netherlands. He is also a Visiting Fellow at Nottingham Trent University, UK, since 2012.Dr. Mathavan’s research interests include mechatronics, machine vision and applied artificial intelligence. He has carried out research and development in the aerospace, semiconductor and transportation industries.
It is a great opportunity for the students to gain knowledge from him in diverse fields not only in academic arena but also in industry.
He is also engaged in discussions with the staff members to finalize the curriculum for special program in Mechanical engineering.
