The Ministry of Power and Energy introduced the Energy Sector Master Plan with the vision for Sri Lanka to be an energy self-sufficient nation. It was expected to get professional, scientific and academic input to achieve this vision. The international Symposium was organized to provide opportunity for local and invited international experts in the field to discuss, debate and share futuristic knowledge relevant to the challenges that the nation faces in the evolving economy.
Rohan Jayasundera and Mugunthan Sivayoganathan from Uni of Waterloo visited the Faculty of Engineering
Rohan Jayasundara is one of the very experienced people from the University of Waterloo, served several years and earned a great reputation for Undergraduate teaching from his students. Mugunthan graduated from the University of Peradeniya and obtained his PhD from Ryerson University, Canada and currently working as a postdoctoral research fellow attached to the Department of Mechnical and Mechatronics Engineering at University of Waterloo. Full term Dean was elected to the Faculty of Engineering on 24th June 2015
The faculty was getting towards stable operations with the Acting Dean and Acting Heads’ appointments from November 2013. It has reached to its stable operations with the increased number of PhDs up to five, which enforced the administration to appoint full term Heads for the departments of Civil, Electrical and Electronic, Computer Engineering and Interdisciplinary Studies.

Professor SabanayagamThevanayagam visited to the Faculty on Engineering on 18th June 2015 and spends whole day, discussing with the staff members in different meetings. It was excellent knowledge and experience sharing with the staff members on teaching and research environment at the University at Buffalo. Dr. V. Cynthujah delivered Kickoff lecture on Industrial Training at the Faculty of Agriculture
Dr. V. Cynthujah, the coordinator of the Industrial Training Unit of the Faculty of Engineering, delivered a lecture about the Industrial Training Program at the Faculty of Agriculture. She also share her experience as the Industrial Training Coordinator of Faculty of Engineering with the undergraduates and staff members of the Agriculture Faculty. It was excellent way of sharing the knowledge between the Faculties while helping each other. This event was coordinated by Dr. Thirukumaran, Senior Lecturer from the Faculty of Agriculture and held on 10th June 2015.
Faculty staff members participated to the Training program on ASSESSMENTS FOR OUTCOME BASED LEARNING
A two day training program on the theme ‘Assessments for outcome based learning’ was conducted by Associate Prof Lyn Brodie,Faculty of Health, Engineering and Sciences of the University of Southern Queensland, Australia on June 3rd and 4th, 2015 at Hotel Ozo,Colombo 4. Prof. Lyn Brodie is identified as an expert trainer on Outcome Based Education. This program was organized by the Institution of Engineering Sri Lanka for the selected academic staff member in Sri Lankan Universities.
