The faculty of Engineering initiated the postgraduate research degree program through the Faculty of graduate studies of the University of Jaffna. The faculty initiated the postgraduate program by proposing the Board of Study in Engineering, covering engineering disciplines of Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Engineering. Research and Development is important for the regional, national development of the country while sharing the knowledge internationally. As a result the Faculty of Engineering has opened another degree of services on Research and Development.
The first step of the postgraduate research degree program is initiated with the WaSo project (http://www.jfn.ac.lk/grad/images/Applications/Resource.Persons-WaSo.Asia.Project.pdf), which is supported through Government of Norway through NORHED fund (https://wasoproject.wordpress.com/), PhD research degree program through the Department of Civil Engineering. The research proposals by the applicants were presented for the selection panel on 2nd October 2015.
