These two hours seminars on “Building Information Modelling (BIM)” were organized jointly by Faculty of Engineering together with Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka Northern Provincial Chapter. This was held in two places. On 27th January it was held at the Faculty of Engineering at Kilinochchi and 28th it was held at Euroville Conference hall in Jaffna to get the maximum benefits to the Students, Academics, Researchers and Engineers. The Faculty thanks Dr. A. Anburuvel for coordinating work of this session.

The presentation aimed at those who are entering to the construction Industry to give them an in-depth knowledge of Building Information Modelling Process. The session will introduce delegates to the BIM principles walking them through each dimension in detail, whilst highlighting the purpose of the whole process and how each dimension is utilised in the industry.
- This will also cover the benefits that bring to each party during the life cycle of the project.
- The presentation will include the BIM implementation plan in detail, covering every step of the process and address the legal and technical issues, pit falls, that need to be addressed during the execution.
- The presentation will include the key topics such as BIM / CAD Standards, PAS 1192-2, Component coding, LOD, CDE, etc.
-
Furthermore the presentation will cover the leading Technologies and tools available for BIM and the pros and cons of each tool for better understanding of the application.
The session will end with a live demonstration of complete BIM process including parametric object modelling, Clash detection, Construction Sequencing etc.
- The delegates will have the opportunity to see through a live project where BIM is utilised for various activities
