Eng. M. Vignarajah obtained his B.Sc.Eng. degree with Second Class Honors from the University of Peradeniya in 2000. Also he earned M.Phil. degree from University of Peradeniya in 2005. Then he moved to United States and obtained M.Sc in Civil Engineering. He is currently reading for his Ph.D. while attached to the Department of Civil Engineering as Senior Lecturer Grade I.
He has teaching experience at the Faculty of Engineering (University of Peradeniya), Department of Civil Engineering (Texas Tech University, USA), Kotelawala Defense University (Sri Lanka), IESL College of Engineering (Sri Lanka), etc. Also he conducted workshops on applied finite element analysis for practicing structural engineers (with Emeritus Professor M.P. Ranaweera).
He managed number of large scale industrial projects. He enjoys the structural designs and forms of tall buildings, aerodynamics of tall structures, design of blast resistance buildings, real time dynamic testing of structures, etc. In fundamental studies, he is much interested and worked in the nonlinear continuum mechanics, nonlinear finite elements using incremental / non-incremental methods, large inelastic deformations, structural plasticity, ductile behavior of structures, etc. He is an Associate Member of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and Member of Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science (SLAAS).
