Dr. V. Cynthujahjoined the Faculty after her PhD degree from Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia in 2014. She left the faculty on 31st July 2016 as she need to travel with her family members for good. She rented her excellent services to the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and the Faculty of Engineering during her stay. Constitution for the UBL of the UOJ
Professor Kanes K Rajah, who holds the Royal Agricultural University Chair in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, help to draft the proposed constitution for the University Business Linkage for the University of Jaffna. He visited to the Faculties of Engineering, Agriculture and Management during the last week of July 2016.
Hydro Power Plants Visit
The Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering students and staff have visited to some major power stations of Sri Lanka. The field visit included Victoria, Laxapana, Nilambe mini hydro and Wimalasurendra power stations for two days. It was organized by the subject coordinator Dr. V. Cynthujah under the course “Renewable Energy”.
Eng. M. Vignarajah Participated Tall Building Council Meeting
Eng. M. Vignarajah participated to the Tall Building Council Meeting held on 27th June 2016. The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) Colombo forum conducted an evening presentation and networking session on June 27, 2016 (Monday) at 5:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m at The Kings Court, Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel, Colombo 02. This is an annual mid-year forum on “Collaborative Approaches in Tall Building Design”. This event offered an important opportunity to learn about the state-of-the-art practices in the design and construction of high-rise as part of the premier tall building design forum in Sri Lanka.

Eluvaitheevu Hybrid Power Plant Field Visit
Students of 2013/E and 2014/E who are specializing in the fields of Electrical & Electronic Engineering visited Eluvaitheevu hybrid power station, which has the wind power generation as well as the solar power plant in a small scale. This power plant is operated islanded mode to supply this small island.
Talks by Eng Krishna Nadaraja and Eng. Chandrikaa Balendhran
Engineers Krishna and Chandrikaa shared their experience by delivering talks, on 25th July 2016, to the Civil Engineering students. These talks covered the engineered application of chemical additives such as quicklime and cement into soil that results in permanent physical and chemical alterations. Further the environmental based sustainable development was stressed with already implemented environmental projects. These talks gave knowledge and confident to the students in terms of development projects together with the environmental concerns.
Dr. George Gunendran visited to the Faculty
Dr. A. G. Gunedran visited us on 25th July 2016. Dr. A. G. Gunedran is presently working as a PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) Application Specialist in Progress Rail (a Caterpillar Company), Sandiacre, Nottingham, UK. He did his PhD in Manufacturing Engineering, at Loughborough University, UK (2000 – 2003) and B. Sc. (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering in University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. (1993 – 1997).
Mr. R. Valluvan was recruited to the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Mr. R. Valluvan received his B.Sc. Eng (Hons) degree with first class honours in 2007 from University of Peradeniya and obtained his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering focusing on Telecommunications in 2010. He is pursuing his Doctoral degree at University of California, Irvine. Presently, He joined the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering as Lecturer (Probationary) from 18th July 2016.
E-86 Batch graduates from the University of Peradeniya visited to the Faculty
Dr. Nageswaran Kumaresan together with his team organised a visit of their batch (E-86), graduated from the University of Peradeniya, to the Faculty of Engineering University of Jaffna. It was a wonderful day to the Faculty with number of very senior Engineers, who shared their experienced knowledge while showing the way forward of young Engineering graduates. The students and the staff of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Jaffna are very pleased to the Senior Engineers, who hold many top level positions, for explained the trends in Engineering for the students.
