The parent IESL has approved to form a Kilinochchi District Centre on the request of IESL Vadakkin (Northern) Chapter. Therefore it has been decided to inaugurate Killinochchi District center, which will serve members of Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu Districts. The inauguration was held on 10th February 2017 (Friday) from 6.00pm onwards at the Friends Inn hotel. The event was chaired by Eng.T.Barathithasan, Chairman of the Vadakkin Chapter. Eng. Jayavilal Meegoda, the President of the IESL, blessed the event as Chief Guest while Prof. (Eng.) A. Atputharajah, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, supported as Guest of Honor in this event. Fellows, Members, Associate Members, Faculty Academic Staff and Students participated to this event. This event was coordinated and conducted by the IESL Vadakkin (Northern) Chapter. The chairman Eng.T.Barathithasan and executive committee of the IESL Vadakkin (Northern) Chapter was thanked for conducting this successful event with the participation of more than 40 members.
Sri Lanka’s first hybrid power plant launched at Eluvathivu
Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Mr. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya declared open Sri Lanka’s first hybrid power plant in Eluvathivu Island, Jaffna on 10th February 2017. Together with the honorable minister, Deputy Minister Mr. Ajith P. Perera, higher rank officers from the CEB and Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority and Professor Atputharajah from Faculty of Engineering were attended. Eng. D.K.P.U. Gunathilake, Deputy General Manager (North) Ceylon Electricity Board together with his team of Engineers organized this event very successfully.
