Electrical and Electronic Engineering Students organized two hours talk on “Blockchain Technology: Opportunities?” on 26th of December 2016. This talk was done by Dr. Vallipuram Muthukkumarasamy, Associate Professor, Griffith University, Australia. The talks covered on Network security, cyber security research opportunities, Blockchain fundamentals, crypto currency transactions and evolution, hash functions and problems in Blockchain technology. Finally open up the research opportunities and future role of Blockchain technology.
Muthu obtained B.Sc. Eng. with 1st Class Hons. from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka and obtained Ph.D. from Cambridge University, England. He is attached to School of Information and Communications Technology, Griffith University, Australia as an Associate Professor. His current research areas include investigation of security issues in wireless networks, sensor networks, trust management in MANETs, key establishment protocols and medical sensor networks. He established the Network Security research Group at the Institute for Integrated and Intelligent Systems at Griffith University and leading that Group. He has aslo been providing leadership to innovative learning and teaching practices as the Deputy Head of School. He has received a number of best teacher awards
