Dr. V. Mugilgeethan obtained his B.Sc.Eng. (Hons) degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka, in 2016. He earned his PhD in Engineering from Kyoto University of Advanced Science, Japan, in 2024. During his time at Kyoto University of Advanced Science, Dr. Mugilgeethan gained significant research experience as a research assistant, focusing on hydrogen embrittlement, the degradation mechanism of silver sintering dies, and the impact of alloyed interlayers in Ni–Al reactive multilayer nanofoils. He also served as a teaching assistant for courses including Linear Algebra and Calculus I and II, and Mechanics of Materials.
Before embarking on his academic career, Dr. Mugilgeethan worked as an industrial engineer at MAS Holdings for approximately six months. He joined the University of Jaffna in 2017, where he has accumulated seven years of teaching experience. He is currently attached to the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, at the University of Jaffna.
